My favourite song from the Mylo Xyloto era is the Every Teardrop is a Waterfall B-side “Moving to Mars”. It’s a self-proclaimed ‘space symphony’ which is split into three parts – 1) desolation and the return of deep voiced, broken Chris Martin of “Where is My Boy?”, 2) stirring encouragement as the rhythm and guitars kick in, giving a countdown to… 3) guitars going stratospheric and beyond.
Just remembered the first time I heard the beautiful “Parachutes” album by Coldplay more than a decade ago. I recall they were getting some flak and being compared to Radiohead then. I’m so glad they came into their own! And yes I also still do love Radiohead!
